Aerial’s House Toy Collection Campaign

The Forsyth County Fire Department has launched its annual Aerial’s House Toy Collection campaign, a beloved holiday tradition that invites the community to donate new, unwrapped toys. From November 27th to December 15th, the department will station its aerial fire trucks at locations across the county, allowing residents to drop off toy donations.

Last year's drive was a huge success, with over 15,000 toys collected - a new record for the event. The donated items are distributed to local nonprofits and churches, who work with the fire department to identify families in need and ensure the gifts reach children who might otherwise go without during the holidays.

In addition to the toy collection, the Aerials for House display serves an educational purpose. Visitors, especially kids, can explore the fire department's impressive aerial equipment up close, learning about its capabilities and the crucial role it plays in emergency response. Many even get to sit in the truck cab or bucket, sparking interest in the fire service.

Fire Chief Barry VanHooser is optimistic this year's drive will surpass previous records, once again demonstrating the Forsyth County community's generosity and compassion for supporting its neighbors in need during the holiday season.

New Fire Station Opens in Forsyth County

Forsyth County officials and community members gathered last week for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the county's latest fire station. The new $5.2 million state-of-the art facility, located on Highway 9 in Cumming, represents a major investment in enhancing public safety and emergency services for local residents.

The 14,000 square foot station was designed with the latest firefighting technology and amenities to support the Forsyth County Fire Department. It features four drive-through apparatus bays, living quarters for around-the-clock staffing, a fitness room, training facilities, and office spaces. Fire Chief Barry VanHooser praised the new station, stating that it will allow firefighters to respond more quickly and effectively to calls, which can truly make a difference in emergency situations.

In addition to the practical improvements, the station's modern architectural design combines classic and contemporary elements for an appealing aesthetic. Officials believe this new fire station is a testament to Forsyth County's ongoing commitment to public safety as the area continues to experience rapid population growth.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by local government leaders, fire department personnel, and members of the community, who all celebrated this important milestone for public services in Forsyth County.
