Making New Year's Resolutions Stick: A Simple Guide

  1. The key to maintaining New Year's resolutions lies in setting realistic, specific goals and creating actionable plans. Instead of vague promises like "exercise more," set concrete targets such as "walk 30 minutes three times weekly." Break larger goals into smaller, manageable steps to prevent overwhelming yourself.

  2. Track your progress using apps or journals, and celebrate small victories along the way (bourbon is my favorite celebration). Share your goals with friends or family for accountability, or find a buddy with similar resolutions. Remember that habits take time to form – experts suggest 21 days minimum.

  3. If you slip up, don't give up. Each day offers a fresh opportunity to recommit to your goals and continue moving forward.
