On Saturday, November 16th, country music enthusiasts can enjoy a fully immersive performance that captures the energy and excitement of a real Garth Brooks concert.

The tribute show features vocalist Shawn Gerhard, who has perfected Brooks' distinct singing style and stage presence. Gerhard will be backed by a full band that faithfully recreates the iconic sound of the country music superstar. From hit singles like "Friends in Low Places" and "The Thunder Rolls" to fan-favorite album tracks, the tribute performance promises to take the audience on a journey through Garth Brooks' remarkable four-decade career.

Caring for Forsyth County's Seniors: 4th Annual Holiday Hope Program Expands

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce the expansion of its annual Holiday Hope program, which provides hot meals and comfort packages to seniors in need within the local community. This year, the program aims to reach an impressive 350 seniors, up from previous years.

To achieve this goal, the Sheriff's Office is calling on the generosity of the Forsyth County community. An Amazon wish list has been created, allowing residents to easily contribute items that will be included in the comfort packages. Those who prefer not to use Amazon can also donate gift cards for local grocery stores, which will be accepted at the Sheriff's Office headquarters.

"The Holiday Hope program is a heartwarming way for our community to come together and show our seniors that they are valued and cared for," said Sheriff Ron Freeman. "We are grateful for any support our residents can provide to make this year's initiative a resounding success."

This collaborative effort between the Sheriff's Office and the community exemplifies the spirit of the holiday season, ensuring that Forsyth County's senior population receives the comfort and sustenance they need. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Atlanta BBQ Store Classic at the Fairgrounds

Ready to get barbecue sauce on your white t-shirt? The ABS BBQ Classic is set to take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Cumming Fairgrounds. This exciting event features a barbecue competition where teams from across the region will showcase their grilling skills. Attendees can sample delicious barbecue, enjoy live music, and participate in various family-friendly activities. The festival will also include vendors offering a variety of food and craft items.

This year’s event promises to be bigger and better, with awards given for the top barbecue teams in several categories. The ABS BBQ Classic is not only a celebration of great food but also a chance to support local businesses and community initiatives. Admission is free, making it an accessible outing for everyone.

Sample tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Tickets will be available for purchase at the white Information Tent in the middle of the Cumming Fairgrounds and will be sold from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. or until teams run out of samples. Sampling will take place at 11 a.m. Sample tickets are non-refundable. Sample sizes and selection vary and are determined by each individual team. After the samples are tasted, the public is encouraged to vote on their favorite sample.  Winners will be announced on the main stage at the BBQ Awards Ceremony at 5 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, vendors and activities will move to the Fairgrounds’ Covered Arena.
